                          4-H HOME ENVIRONMENT
      Each Exhibitor may enter up to two classes within ONE unit and one class in changing
      spaces. For complete specifications, contact the Extension Office.

      Unit I—Exploring Your Home:

            rubbings of textured items artistically arranged & adhered to mat/foam core board.
      889    Transparent Finish applied to small wood object ................   4.00   3.00   2.00
            Emphasis on finish (allowing the wood grain to show), not construction Ex. include:
            bowl, tray, small box, cutting board, game board or box. Items that are stained or
            finished with paint do not fit in this class.
      890   Simple Cloth item for the Home (sewing machine  .............   4.00   3.00   2.00
            may be used, but it is not required.)  Such as decorative pillow, tablecloth, laundry bag,
            place mats, footstool with a seat made of woven fabric; fabric applied to an item such as
            a box plate or lampshade. Unacceptable: purses, tote bags, backpacks, duffle bags.

      Unit II—Living with Others:

      895  Simple refinished wood item: with straight lines, not elaborate;    4.00   3.00   2.00
           Such as foot stool, children’s furniture, small, box tray, picture frame, bookshelves.
           Documentation is to include a “before” photo with explanation of how the item was
           refinished securely attached to entry.
      896  Cloth item for the home using sewing machine..........................   4.00   3.00   2.00
           Such as hemmed table cloth or runner, wall hanging, pillow, pillow case, throw,
           embellished towels, shower curtain, chair cover, laundry bag, pet bed, valence, and
           curtains. Unacceptable: purses, tote bags, backpacks, and duffle bags.
      897  Invitation and thank you letter/note ............................................   4.00   3.00   2.00
           Design an invitation and thank you letter/note for a sleepover, birthday party, or other
           occasion. May be created with computer software or handwritten.
           Decorations may be members original artwork, computer generated art, purchased or
           found decorative items. The message written inside is more important than the
           decorations. Write your name and county on the back of each card/letter and place each
           card/letter in a plastic sheet protector. Envelopes are not required for exhibit.


      Unit III—Where I Live:
      898  Accessory for the home, created by member ................................   4.00   3.00   2.00
           w/ description/sketch/photo. This exhibit is to be made up of two parts: 1.) the accessory
           and 2.)  a sheet or folder of documentation.  Ex. stitchery or appliqué wall hanging.
      899  Individual place (table) setting, Two parts required:  ...................   4.00   3.00   2.00
           1) One individual place setting appropriate to a theme or event chosen by the 4-H
           member and 2) a color photo or diagram of the place setting showing how it should be
           arranged.  Include plate, beverage container(s), placemat, and napkin.
      900  Refinished furniture (stripped, sanded and painted or ..................   4.00   3.00   2.00
           stained/sealed) by the 4-H member. Such as rocker, table, chair or chest. Documentation
           including a “before” photo with explanation of how the item was refinished is required.
      901  Old or discarded item made useful in a new way .........................   4.00   3.00   2.00
