4-H SHOWMAN
OF SHOWMEN CONTEST
Friday, June 27 • 6:30 pm
4-H Agent: Rusty Wolf
(4-H LIVESTOCK BARN)

1. Participants in the Showman of Showmen Contest shall consist of the Grand Champion
Showmen from each species (Beef, Nominated Dairy Feeder Heifers & Steers, Goat,
Horse, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep, Swine.)
2. If the Grand Champion Showman of the Species chooses not to participate, the Reserve
Champion Showman may be entered.
3. The contest shall be conducted as follows:
A. The champion showman for the species will exhibit the proper showmanship
technique for that animal. Other participants will observe.
B. Each of the other showman will exhibit the animals of that species and be placed on
the judges score sheet.
C. Once all the species have been exhibited, the "Showman of Showmen" will be
announced. The "Showman of Showmen" will be the exhibitor who has the lowest
overall average placing on all species.
D. Example: The Beef Showman exhibits proper showmanship for a beef animal -- the
other seven participants are each assigned a beef animal (steer or heifer) and exhibit
it. A score is placed on the judges card for that species.
4. The grand champion of each market showmanship class must declare by the end of the
show if they are going to show that species in the 4-H Showman of Showmen show.
Once the participant declares that species he/she is not eligible for any other species. All
declarations are final.
