We honor and celebrate the dedication of a true
pillar of the Boone County Fairgrounds—Butch
Burns. Butch was the caretaker of the Fairgrounds
since 1992. Wearing many hats, he was the heart
and soul of these grounds, ensuring every event
ran smoothly with his unmatched expertise and
unwavering commitment.
Whether he was riding his golf cart to
organize events and people, skillfully
maneuvering the bulldozer to prepare the
track, or tirelessly mowing and keeping the
grounds pristine, his presence was felt in every
detail. His deep wealth of knowledge, generously
shared, left a lasting impact on all who had the
privilege of working alongside him.
His passion and hard work turned the
fairgrounds into more than just a place—
it became a community, a home for
tradition, and a gathering spot for
all. Thanks to his efforts, the grounds
were always ready to welcome
visitors with open arms.
